Stephen Roddy is a scholar of late imperial Chinese literature and culture, and has written on various topics in the fields of poetry, fiction, and literati culture. He has a particular interest in themes of multiethnic interaction in mid- to late-Qing literature and thought, such as found in the poetry and prose essays of Gong Zizhen, Yu Yue, and exile poems by Ji Yun, Lin Zexu, and other prominent figures.
